The Best Wakeboards of 2005

Best Wakeboards
It’s only right to describe some of the best wakeboards around, since
wakeboarding’s become one of the hotter sports in recent years. If you’re new to
the sport, consider this an excellent start; if you’re clearly an old hand, this could
give you an idea about that new board you’ve had your eye on for so long.
Liquid Force :: 2005 Fish 125
Fast and loose with the holding power to carve on a dime, the Fish is your ultimate
“fun” board, period. Combining explosive pop, relentless acceleration, and pillow
soft landings, this deck redefines the idea of the wakeboard. The Fish should be
ridden 10cm shorter than traditional boards. The length is compensated by the
increased width from tip to tail...which creates unparalleled pop with minimal swing
weight, making the board more easy to maneuver.
DOUBLE “D” HULL--The double concave placed within a spiral "V" hull creates
lift and pop, while providing a cushion for landings and lighting quick response.
C3 ROCKER--Hand shaped continuous rocker blended with 3-stage. Huge
amounts of pop and air that’s forgiving and smooth. The sleek ride any
wakeboarder wants and desires.
“Q-C” FIN SETUP--Quad Canted ‘fins = speed’ with the holding power to carve
on a dime, yet still remain loose when desired.
LIFTED VARIABLE EDGE--Unbelievably easy to roll on to edge. Smooth,
consistent, and responsive.
Hyperlite :: 2005 Byerly Bio2 142
Four years of research, several pro model designs, and countless hours in the
shaping room has lead to a new era in board design that allows for an extremely
tight feel (even when ridden finless) and an incredible amount of pop off the wake.
ABRUPT 3-STAGE ROCKER (2.6"/2.7"/2.8")--Bucking pop for those who
prefer height
over distance.
‘FLOW THRU TECHNOLOGY’--Water flows over the tail for quicker initiated
turns and unbelievable edge hold.
DEEP CENTER BEAM--Super soft landings...even with all that height.
RECESSED DECK--Makes for a board that is very manageable from rail to rail.
‘BUTCH INNOVATION’--Scott Bouchard and Scott Byerly continue to attack
the limits of wakeboard design.
Liquid Force :: 2005 Team 134
The Team is a supercharged version of the Liquid Force classic, the Trip.
Using the design input from virtually every top rider around, Liquid Force was able
to expand on its timeless design, making it more explosive and energized.
6 FIN, DUAL THRUSTER SETUP--Designed for lightning quick turns, slip free
launches off the wake, and the ultimate in edge hold.
CUPPED SIDE FINS--Cupping effect provides superior hold with less drag.
CONTINUOUS ROCKER--Quick and smooth forever.
SINGLE TO DOUBLE CONCAVE HULL--Provides the fastest water flow
available, while keeping the board moving on landings.
CWB :: 2005 Prodigy 140
It seems that every year Zane Schwenk is coming up with a few more design
touches that make his signature board ride that much better.
One of the top performing board shapes in the industry is back for ’05. Its
innovative design has been put to the test by some of the top riders from all over
the world, including Rob Struharik and Pro Tour rookie Scotty Broome.
CWB developed the capped fin system exclusively for the Prodigy. This system
gives each rider the freedom to fine tune their board to fit their own style of riding.
A rocker tweak and fin hole caps are included this year for a cleaner and quicker
flow and release off the wake. Fine design all the way around.
Hyperlite :: 2005 Era Bio2 142
Pro rider Eric Ruck and Hyperlite have added some great changes to the Era series
this year, including a parallel rocker line with a slightly larger tip/tail profile. This
style of a subtle 3-stage rocker is the perfect blend for riders that vary between
technical wake-to-wake tricks and bigger cuts landing out into the flats.
SUBTLE 3-STAGE (2.5"/2.6"/2.7"/2.8") ROCKER--A more forgiving 3-Stage
kick.
FRET RAIL--Hyperlite original.
DEEP "V" BOTTOM FULL LENGTH TUNNEL--Most exaggerated tunnel
channeling provides more water flow, which helps cushion landings.
CUPPED RAILS--A quicker grip into a rail-ride turn.
VENTED CHANNELS--A faster feel on the water.
Liquid Force :: 2005 Substance 138
The Substance is one of the smoothest, most fluid boards available...yet still has the
energy to provide the bucking pop that high performance riders always seek out.
SUBTLE, SCALLOPED DIAMOND TIP/TAIL--Extended hold through the
wake with increased pop off the tail.
VARIAL RAIL DESIGN--Softens through the center of the board and hardens as
it nears the tip and tail, providing a loose, forgiving feel when in the neutral position.
Also slides on with quick acceleration when on edge.
3-STAGE ROCKER--Tons of pop when driven off the tail, but stable control
when in the neutral position.
QUAD CHANNELS THAT GROW TO DEEP MOLDED SIDE FINS--Great
hold on the water, clean when sliding rails.
REMOVABLE LONG BASE CENTER FIN--Locked in with the fin; more loose
feel without the fin.
