Top Wakeboard Boats
With the end of the year approaching, this may be your last chance to get in on a fabulous 2006 wakeboarding boat. For sure, there were plenty of new boats made this year capable of doing the job; but for the best hull designs, comfort, size, and especially wakes, check out our list of the Ten Best Wakeboarding Boats of 2006 below (in no particular order).
Centurion Enzo - A really unique looking boat. The Centurion Enzo deep-V design cuts through wakes and most rough water effortlessly. Further, it tends towards a pretty predictable wake for newcomers to the sport, and handles quite well.
The wraparound seating allows more seating than many boats of the same size (and some bigger boats for that matter). At 23 feet long with a 102 inch beam, the Centurion Enzo is a winner.
Correct Air Craft Nautique 226 Team Edition - This is a powerful V drive boat that rides with authority. The Correct Air Craft Nautique 226 Team Edition is the biggest wakeboarding boat in the Correct Craft line, and as such it offers a real plethora of storage space (65 cubic feet of storage).
In addition, this 22 foot, 6.5 inch boat with a 96.5 inch beam leaves predictable, large wakes (this puppy has 900 pounds of ballast). Even better, it isn't as noisy as most wakeboarding boats this large, so you won't wake up the world.
Malibu Wakesetter VLS - Some wakeboarding boats are about the add ons - ballast, comfort, etc. - but the Malibu Wakesetter VLS is really about one thing. Wakeboarding. It delivers well- formed wakes that other boats need extra ballast to bring. Further, the VLS is the kind of wakeboarding boat that will appeal to the best wakeboarders out there as well as those new to the sport. Oh yeah, and VLS's new power wedge only serves to make the wakes that much better!
The wraparound lounge brings comfortable seating capacity to the VLS (it holds 11). In addition, this 21.5 foot boat with a 98 inch beam isn't quite as pricey as some of the boats that made this list (you can get it for under $48,000).
Malibu Wakesetter 247 LSV - Beautiful. That's all you can really say about this new V drive Malibu boat. With no ballast, the Malibu Wakesetter 247 LSV weighs 4,000 pounds across a 102 inch beam. This makes for huge wakes on its own, but with ballast to capacity, forget it! Great stuff.
In terms of comfort, the lounge is extraordinary and large with cup holders and coolers at nearly every turn. In addition, the cockpit itself is really spacious and a dealmaker on its own. In short, this 24 foot, 7 inch boat is one of the best looking, classiest wakeboarding boats on the market today.
MasterCraft X Star - Start with the comfort of this boat. You'll feel like you entered the Cadillac of wakeboarding boats: leather steering wheels, carbon- fiber dash, etc. The MasterCraft X Star's unique two- point hammerhead designed bow and extra special hull only adds to the feeling of luxury. That's the draw of the MasterCraft X Star, for sure.
Further, once this 22 foot, 3 inch boat with a 100 inch beam gets going (7.5 seconds to 30 miles per hour), you're sure to enjoy some beautifully engineered wakes.
Moomba Mobius XLV - Okay, you're not rich. Neither are we. Hence, the Moomba Mobius XLV. A great boat for under $40,000.
The Mobius is about respectable performance, nice handling, and better than good wakes; it is not about extravagance. However, for many of you out there, extravagance is about having a boat, not a bunch of tooty fruity stuff inside. For fun, the 23 foot, 98 inch beam Moomba Mobius XLV can't be beat!
Session 22 S3 - Another boat that you can afford (it's under $40,000 as well). It leaves nice wakes, but perhaps the draw to this boat would be the comfort is offers at such an economical price.
Buy this vessel and you'll get a tower and well- designed interior that seems to fit family living (seating capacity 10). Best of all, you may not need to take out a second mortgage!
Supra Launch 24 SSV Gravity Edition - A big boat (24 feet, 102 inch beam) that makes mincemeat out of waves and rough water. However, the best part of this boat may be its seating capacity of 16 and the general comfort it provides.
Still, don't be fooled. For a large boat, the Supra Launch 24 SSV Gravity Edition really gets going (only 5.5 seconds to 30 miles per hour). It's the kind of vessel that provides wakes that longtime wakeboarders will find breathtaking.
Svfara SV696 - A rarity in this business. This is the only boat on this list that delivers great wakes without a V hull (direct drive). Further, it has wraparound seating (rare for a direct drive), and a unique looking tower that will leave you wanting to take a second glance.
Overall, this 23 foot boat with a 102 inch beam is a nice alternative to those V- drives.
Tige 24Ve - A walk through transom and activity center sets this wakeboarding boat apart from the Tige 24V. This boat is about comfort, with coolers, an ice chest, and swivel racks dotting the interior. It just plain looks good.
In addition, the Tige 24Ve (24 foot long, 102 inch beam) can put out quality wakes with the best of them (the ConvexV hull has been reformed and works and looks great). Further, it's a good boat for wakeboarders of any skill level.
